Samoa Medical Journal - Call for Papers

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to invite you to submit an article to the Samoa Medical Journal which is a new rapid forum for the dissemination of research, review and general interest articles that are relevant to health issues in the South Pacific.  The Samoa Medical Journal, first published in September 2009, is accessible freely online, without the need for a subscription, and can be accessed from



Our journal has an editorial board that taps into a local and international network of reviewers to ensure that the journal is reviewed to the highest standards to maintain high academic standards and has a broad coverage that is relevant especially to the health of Samoans and the South Pacific rim nations.  We solicit local and international reviewers who wish to serve on our editorial board.  Once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, it will undergo language copyediting, typesetting, and reference validation in order to provide the highest publication quality possible.  Accepted articles are published immediately online as pre-prints and are assigned to the next volume and issue of the journal.

Prospective authors should submit one electronic copy of previously unpublished papers to Ms Phaedra Moors, the Journal Production Manager on by the above deadline.  To facilitate communication, the address, phone number, fax number and email address, phone number, and email address of the corresponding author at the time of paper submission.


Papers should be written in English and arranged in the following order:

1)        Title of the paper

2)        Name of author(s) with affiliations and mailing address for each author

3)        An abstract (50-100 words) containing:

a.      Purpose

b.      Scope

c.       Contribution of the paper

4)      Introduction

5)      Main body of the paper divided into sections and sub-sections where appropriate

6)      Conclusion

7)      References

8)      Appendices (if any)
